My name is Irmi Flucher,
Born and grown up in Salzburg, the town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the “Sound Of Music”, brought up with regard to the values and traditions of my country (mountain-hiking, skiing, swimming in the lakes, bicycling; singing, dancing, learning and playing musical instruments, travelling and learning languages…)
During and after my studies of Music- and Dance-Education at the “Mozarteum” I have started already to apply my knowledge about my home town and the languages to help tourists from all over the world along to find their way, working for 5 to 6 (half)years, during summertime, at a tourist-information-desk(as well as in the main office of ‘Salzburg Information’)
After having finished my studies I travelled to and stayed in different countries to improve the foreign languages and to study and investigate ethnic dance and music. In 1991, I finally moved to Vienna, ‘the town of my dreams’.
Just by teaching I hardly could have survived, so, again I have started to work in tourism: First, mainly as a tour guide, accompanying groups through Austria and the neighbour countries, a few years later(since 1994), as a tourist guide, mainly in Vienna and the surroundings.
For a few years I am a licensed Austria Guide, now looking forward to show You or Your clients Vienna and/or other beautiful and interesting spots and sights of my country. Besides the ‘Classical’ City Tour by bus I’d like to offer You specific downtown (“Inner City-”)walking tours or You’ll follow me ‘on the traces of famous composers that lived in Vienna… What about a boat trip on the Danube? Or showing You the best traditional Viennese cafés, confectioneries and pastry shops, where You can get the famous ‘Sacher’-chocolate cake… Our history, our emperors, the Habsburgs, where and how did they live and where are they buried?
In the evening - out to ‘Grinzing’ or ‘Neustift’ to the traditional ‘Heurigen’, the wine taverns in old houses with Viennese songs and traditional music…The enormous variety of interesting museums in Vienna – You would like to stay for weeks, months…
Or let me take You out to the Vienna Woods, or to Wachau, the loveliest part of the Danube Valley, let’s visit medieval castles, or impressing monasteries with a lot of history, old and charming villages that invite us to a wine tasting, f. e. at the Lake Neusiedl, with its natural beauty…
We could go to Salzburg or Innsbruck (overnight) or Graz, it depends on Your desires! I also can lead (and organize) tours and excursions by bike, if demanded.
