Wachau Excursion - the Danube River Valley
This trip takes you up the Danube River to the beautiful landscape northwest of Vienna. The Wachau, a UNESCO world heritage site, is home to Melk, a 900-year-old baroque Benedictine monastery. In the afternoon we take a boat ride down the river to Dürnstein, a rustic village where „Richard-the-Lionheart“ was held prisoner in medieval times. A stop is made in Krems on the way back to Vienna.
Wienerwald – Vienna Woods
Wooded hills bordering Vienna, with many hidden paths leading towards the medieval Liechtenstein castle and home to the ancient Cistercian Monastery of Heiligenkreuz. After visiting the monastery we delve into the incredible story of the famous Mayerling hunting lodge which forms part of the dark and mysterious history of the Habsburgs.
